Creative Supervision is a unique integrated approach, blending traditional and Expressive arts models of supervision. It weaves in arts processes to ignite the creative process in supervision. Kate, an experienced expressive arts therapy supervisor, will demonstrate and discuss how to weave creative arts processes into the supervisory sessions.
Blending expressive arts processes with traditional models of supervision can deepen the supervisory process by:
- enlivening the basic nuts and bolts exchange of supervisory
information, - intensifying empathetic understanding
- clarifying diagnostic issues,
- uncovering co-transference intersubjective themes, and
- illuminating parallel process in the supervisory relationship
This course will combine the styles of different expressive arts supervisory processes.. Through experiential processes and lectures, she will address the issues of transference, countertransference and the intersubjective experience of both supervisor and supervisee present practical ideas for mentoring the supervisee, dilemmas that are unique to the use of arts in therapy and assist participants in a deeper understanding of themselves as supervisors and as therapists.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Understand the basic theories underlying creative supervision.
- Understand how to deepen the supervisory process through the arts.
- Identify expressive arts interventions for supervision.
- Understand the use of the arts in exploring transference,
counter-transference and Intersubjectivity. - Understand the unique issues of creative supervision.
